Maureen Walker is a signature member of the Federation of Canadian Artists, a former president of the Arrowsmith Chapter FCA and a member of the Nanaimo Chapter FCA.

Walker was a resident artist for five years at the Old School House Arts Centre in Qualicum Beach B.C., where she also taught and mentored. She has been teaching silk painting workshops, together with classes in composition, colour theory and abstraction, at various locations on Vancouver Island since 1999. Now living and painting on Salt Spring Island B.C., she exhibits her work in local group shows.

She was art educated in the U.K. Her background of European art history and interest in Cubism and The Bauhaus inspire her interpretation of early 20th century abstract painters. Her chosen water medium, silk and dye on canvas, is used in an innovative and exciting way, making her viewers question their visual awareness of the world.
